2026/10/10 23:10:21Interior trim is where users can most directly feel the quality of a car, and it’s also an area where TPV has been quietly expanding its presence.

Soft-touch interior trim for automobiles made from TPV
According to estimates by research firms, the global automotive interior TPV market was approximately US$585 million in 2025 and is projected to reach US$1 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate of about 8%. By region, the Asia-Pacific accounted for approximately 40%, with the Chinese market contributing US$247 million, making it the clear core market. Sealing systems account for the largest share in interior TPV applications, approximately 36.8%.
By 2025, the trend of automotive interiors transitioning from PVC to TPV is accelerating. Lower VOC emissions and improved recyclability align perfectly with stringent global ESG requirements. Electric vehicles need to lower their center of gravity, which also provides more reasons for using TPV interior components. Instrument panels, trim pieces, and soft-touch surfaces all benefit from this trend.
Ultra-soft TPV grades are replacing traditional cross-linked rubber in interior trim applications, while bio-based TPVs are also moving toward carbon-neutral manufacturing goals. In the larger market, global TPE and TPV consumption in the automotive sector is projected to reach approximately US$28.3 billion by 2025, with automotive applications accounting for nearly 40% of the total—driven primarily by their roles in lightweighting and durable components, which have solidified their position as the leading segment.
The market appears lively, but price fluctuations in EPDM and polypropylene at the raw-material end continue to squeeze margins. Only suppliers that can stabilize the crosslinking process and production capacity while also keeping costs under control will be able to handle this round of capacity expansion.
